A Hospital Visit and Tired Boys

Noah and I went up to Long Beach Memorial to visit Micaleh and her mom, Penelope, this afternoon. To help the hours go by, we took Micaleh a bag o' crafting goodies and look what she made for us before we left....

I just had to hang it on the fridge!
By the time Ben got home from work tonight, Noah had just finished his bath, but hadn't been read to yet, so I handed him over to Ben and got dinner going. I heard them reading a couple of books and then I heard Family Guy come on - this is what I saw when I looked over there:
My two boys half-asleep, vegged out in front of the TV. Hopefully Noah will be completely asleep and Ben will be awake by the time The Office finale comes on! :)

Two-fer

(Lendy, the title is just for you. ;) )

Today's post is a two-fer since yesterday was a whirl-wind. One of the ladies in our group, Penelope, has a young daughter, Micaleh. She had mentioned in an email that she suspected Micaleh of having type 1 diabetes... she had all the usual symptoms. I told her I'd bring a meter to Small Group last night and we could test her blood sugar. Sure enough, it was high. (I will not say how high, I think that is up to her to say - no one has the right to ask a person that unless they are on their medical team or are their significant other (or in her case, her mom).) So, after a second test, we encouraged Penelope to take her to the emergency room immediately. (I just have to interject here that I can't help but feel that God couldn't have placed them in a more perfect Small Group - not only do we have a type 1 diabetic already in the group, but we also have a dietitian and a RN who is studying to become a Nurse Practitioner!) Heidi (the RN) and I went with them to the hospital and didn't leave until close to 3AM. All that to say, I didn't take these pictures yesterday, but I had planned to! ;)

He bought his golf clubs and bag - his Father's Day gift from Noah and I! And, for those of you who are wondering why he only bought three... well, he's still in the process of finding the last couple that he wants.

***********************

No one can say this boy isn't teething.... the look of concentration on his face as he was trying to get the teething ring into his mouth was priceless!

And, just for fun, a messy Noah picture after he had his cereal tonight!

And a very Happy 50th Birthday to my Daddy-Man! :) Hope you enjoy your OU football tickets!

How to get out of Tummy Time

For all those babies that are wondering how to get out of doing Tummy Time, here's how:

(Of course, I made him do it again after he had already done it once so I could video-tape it. So really, it's only making him have MORE Tummy Time!)

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommies (and Mommies-to-be!) out there!

After spending the day yesterday in San Diego, we were pretty tired this morning. Noah even slept in a little too! I was determined though, that we were going to actually go to church campus today (instead of watching the service online). So, we got ready and after I opened up my cards from Ben and Noah (Noah even "handed" his to me!!), we left to pick up doughnuts and go to church. The service was great (Kay Warren spoke again as she generally does on Mother's Day, and as always, her words went straight to my heart) and the weather was perfect. We ate lunch at On the Border (one of our favorites) and came back home for naps. Overall, it was a pretty restful and relaxing day. Oh! And I finally got to open my gift from my parents and sisters....
I think it perfectly describes how I feel about my little munchkin - "Angel of Mine".
And, speaking of that little angel of ours, we fed him some cereal tonight (I've fed it to him twice before, but never when Ben was home or when he was there to video it) and thought you might enjoy the video. I love how excited he gets when he sees the spoon coming towards him.

San Diego with a 5-month-old

Happy Five Months to Noah!

It's pretty common knowledge that San Diego is one of my most favorite places to visit. And, even though this was the least "productive" visit there (no good clearance deals at the Package Store and no Strip Club steak/martinis), Sea World was still a great time and the company was even better.

Ben came home this morning and after Noah and I picked him up at the base, we met Greg and Angie back at our house and loaded up in the car to drive down to San Diego. We barely missed an awful accident (see Angie's post), but other than that, the drive down was pretty uneventful and easy (I'm starting to feel a little better about driving across the country with Noah now). We stopped for lunch and then we took Noah to Sea World for the first time. Of course, he spent a good portion of the time asleep, but I think he really enjoyed the parts that he did see!

Angie, Greg, and Ben trying to win an Elmo hat (to no avail).

Ben and Noah watching the Sea Lions.

The Sea Lions were BEGGING for food - several other park guests were feeding them fish.

The boys and Shamu.

Noah and I in the polar bear den.

And, unfortunately, there are no pictures from the Gaslamp Strip Club because we weren't allowed to eat there with Noah... they wouldn't even let us sit on the patio! :( It was great sadness for me, because the last several times we had been there, I wasn't able to have one of my favorite drinks because I was pregnant... and now I probably won't ever... unless we take Angie and Greg up on their offer to watch Noah. ;)

The Graduate

Congratulations to the Graduate! We've very proud! I really wish we could have been there today kiddo. :)

(I guess technically, we were there!)

We're Ready.

Please don't get me wrong. I love the fact that I am a boy Mommy. I love that I have a little boy to wrestle with my husband. A little boy who {hopefully} will want to be just like his Daddy. And a little boy whom I can dress up in suits and matching shirts with Ben. But, sometimes I want to get to match him too! And, since DHS (or CPS, depending on which state) would probably come a callin' if I dressed him in "Mommy and Me" dresses, wearing these will have to make do until we have a little girl....

We're officially ready for football season now - only three and a half more months!

Sling Sewing Day

Angie, Crystal, and Michelle came over this afternoon to put together the slings we had bought fabric for in the fashion/fabric district. They really turned out nice!

Angie practiced with Fox in Socks in her sling before trying Noah out in it.

Crystal practiced with Fox too... since it would be very hard to carry Isabella in it with Olivia ready to join us at any time!

Ella decided that she wanted to help Michelle make her sling - I love how her hand is resting on her arm as if to say, "Mommy, this way."

And the finished product!

Now I'm off to finish up my "fancy" sling!

Ready to Eat?

Doesn't he just look like he's ready to eat a big ole' steak?

He's eyeing the octopus....

Noah has fancy taste... octopus tentacles!

I finally got the tray for his Bumbo and he's been having a ton of fun with it... he has already figured out that if he pushes his toy off the tray, I will put it back on it for him. We had a blast this afternoon playing that game [said with extreme sarcasm]. Since we'll be living out of suitcases for a couple of months, we're going to be using the Bumbo and tray as his highchair... until we can FINALLY open the actual highchair up in September or so.

And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new sewing machine! During one of Noah's naps today I was able to just play around with all the different stitches that it is capable of doing. I'm still learning all about it and am continually referring to my manual, but I felt good enough with it to put together a new sling once Noah was down for the night:

Look at the beautiful decorative stitching!!

I can't wait to put together my "fancy" sling with the new machine. :)

Mother's Day is Sunday?!?

Mother's Day has come early this year.... but look Mom, I promised I wouldn't open it. So it's sitting, looking pretty, on the bookshelf, simply tempting me to open it. {sigh} I hate waiting to open presents.
Along with a Mother's Day gift, came a gift for Noah from a dear family friend, Shanna Ray and her family...

...at least I got to open Noah's present! hehe Thanks Shanna!

I know it's a little dark and fuzzy, but I didn't want the flash to wake him up... this is how Noah ALWAYS sleeps....

He always has his hands up by his head! He woke up this morning around 5AM to eat, so I just kept him in bed with me afterwards since Ben isn't home. When I woke up at 8AM, I looked over at him and his arm was draped over his forehead just like mine was. Like mother, like son. :)

Happy Mother's Day to me!

One more picture with Daddy before we left to go back home....

Look what I got today...

It's my Mother's Day present from Noah (and Ben)! My trusty ole' machine that Mom and Daddy-Man got me for Christmas before Ben and I got married has been acting up lately... alot. (Can you see it in the background?) And, since I've been wanting to upgrade to a machine that has more "bells and whistles", we decided that I could get a new one for Mother's Day! I'm still hoping to get my old one fixed since I've started sewing a lot more (hint, hint, Daddy-Man - can you look at it when we move? :) ). Noah and I picked it up today on our way back from Santa Maria and I can hardly wait to get to use it... if only Noah would go to bed early tonight. (Oh, and yes, you read that correctly, I picked up my own Mother's Day present. When you are a "Financial Peace" couple, gifts are rarely a surprise, but never are they put on credit... Ben already knows what Noah and I are getting him for Father's Day, and he might even pick it up himself too!)

Daddy-Time

Noah and I are heading home tomorrow and while we'll be glad to be home, we already know we'll miss Ben/Daddy until he gets to come home too. So before bath time, Noah had some much needed Daddy time. I never have to doubt that the two of them love each other... just look at the happiness on their faces. :)

I love my boys.

Hearst Castle

The three of us loaded up in the car today and headed up to Hearst Castle in San Simeon. We have been wanting to go up to see the castle, but until now, hadn't really had a good opportunity. We arrived early enough to eat lunch at a local Mexican restaurant that was right on the beach instead of eating at the cafe in the castle (a much better choice, I believe!). Because much of the tour was outside, with stairs, and close quarters, we were unable to take Noah's stroller on the tour with us, so, into the sling he went! He napped during much of the tour, but was wide awake during the 45 minute National Geographic movie that we watched - he wanted to watch it so bad that he wouldn't even eat! (At least now we know that we can take him to the movies with us!)

This is the outside of one of the guest houses, just next to the castle.

The view of San Simeon Harbor from the main landing at the castle.

One of my favorite things about the tour was the garden - I wish it hadn't been so chilly so that we could have spent a little more time exploring it.

The Three Graces

A bedroom in one of the guest houses.... I wish we could have taken pictures of the castle itself, but the camera battery died. (That's my fault!)

The Graduation Girl

This is what we really wish we could have been doing today.....

...spending a little time at Jessie's graduation party, celebrating her college graduation and eating some of those delicious (and well decorated, I might add) looking cakes!
Jessie, we're all very proud of you!!

My favorite time of day....

is naptime.

We made it.... finally!

After a five hour drive (that is normally around 3), Noah and I have finally made it to Santa Maria with Ben. Of course, we stopped at Camrillo Outlets to do some shopping, but we were literally only there for less than an hour and that included eating time for Noah. Let's just say that after (yet another) blowout diaper, three stops and five hours in the car, we're both very glad to be in for the night.

Just for Ben.

See you tomorrow Dear One.
