A Good Mail Day

I love my Mom.

I'm lucky to have her.

She's taught me lots of things. Like how to be a good Mom. And how to crochet. And, every so often, she surprises me with something fun in the mail... like cute little matching head wraps for Ellie and I:

We love them Mom {and you!}! Well done and thank you! ♥

Also in the mail today... Becky Higgins' new Project Life extras. I simply cannot wait to get started telling our story with them! {Thanks Aunt BB!}

Craft Day

I love getting a little crafty... I guess that much is obvious, both from posts on this blog and my new craft blog. Throw in some friends and some good food, and I'm set for the day! This afternoon, some of the gals from our small group came over and we spent the afternoon crafting away. I would love to say that I got a lot of personal things accomplished, but I didn't. {Katy, Angie, are you as surprised as me?!} I did however, manage to get a shirt made for Kyleigh, teach Erin how to applique, make cookies, and almost finish the pig hooded-towel. So I guess I did get a few things done. :) I didn't take any pictures while the table was covered with scrapbooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting... so here's a few shots taken after everyone cleaned up:

While we were getting to work on our projects, the guys were busy taking care of the kiddos. I didn't send Ben with a camera, so there's no pictures of Noah today... I totally forgot to take any until after he was already in bed. I promise you'll get a ton tomorrow though! :)

After we all ate dinner and got the crafts cleaned up, the Wii was broken out and even the kiddos got to play.

We thought about letting them play the way that Amanda and Damien let Deacon "play" {give them a dead remote, stand behind them and play for them}, but then we realized that it might be just a little more fun {and much more funnier!} to watch them play Wii Boxing. The girls, Jadyn and Chloe, did surprisingly well!

Happy Fall!

Evidently camouflage pajamas means that Noah *thinks* he can't be seen when he tries to crawl into the kitchen. Good thing Mommy has eyes in the back of her head.

When Carol sent me this book, she {jokingly, mind you!!} said that she better see some finished products! I finished my first project from the book today and while there are a few mistakes, I think it looks pretty darn cute! It's called "A Squirrel's Best Friend". Pretty fitting for fall, don't you think?

And, unfortunately, I think he's getting to that "I-know-there-is-something-on-my-head-and-I'm-not-sure-I-like-it" stage.

Happy Hookers and a Happy Hubby

We did so much today and I only have this picture to share:

But, this one picture sums it all up.

Heidi came over today so that we could work on her ring sling (she wasn't able to make it when the other girls came over) and since we didn't have any fabric, we went to lunch and then to JoAnn's. While we were there, we also went to the yarn area - I'm really wanting to make a pair of pink fuzzy bunny slippers from my book. Heidi mentioned she use to know how to crochet, but that she had forgotten, so of course, we had to help her re-learn! We got her a hook and some yarn and headed back to our place. Having never taught {or rather, re-taught} someone how to crochet, it was a little interesting at first, but by the end of the evening, Heidi knew how to work that hook! And surprisingly, I didn't take a single picture while she was there. Crazy, I know.

Then, Noah and I went to LAX to pick up a very happy-to-be-home hubby. I'm glad he was able to spend some time with his family {Hi ya'll! Thanks for the book and outfit!}, but I'm glad to have him home too. And, so now, I'm about to get back to work on a black cap for him while he is finishing getting things ready for his going away party tomorrow at work.

Mama taught me well.

Look what I finally finished! I made one of his "wee lil' gillies" (said with an Irish accent by Jessie) while I was in Oklahoma and finally got the other one finished up. I also finished the birthday girl's hat, so I had to try it on Noah.... it's a little big on him, so I figure it'll fit the recipient perfectly.

And, because I can't let the last picture of the day be of my son in a girl's hat... here's one that's all boy.

And, for the best news of the day.... check out Angie's post. :)

A New Hat

When we were younger, Mom taught us all sorts of crafts: how to sew, crochet, knit, plastic canvas, even a little cross stitch, and probably some other crafts that I can't think of off the top of my head. Basically, the only craft that I can think of that she didn't teach me was scrapbooking! (I'm still trying to get her into it... I think she thinks that if she knows how, I won't make her any!) I decided that I needed a refresher course on crocheting, so a couple of nights ago she and I sat down and she reminded me of all the different stitches. As a result, today I finished up my first crochetng project in many years - a new beanie hat for Noah. Everyone says he looks gangsta' in it! :)

I think he just looks plain cute.
